The Fiddlin' Peayple began in Fall 2022 at the request of students who just wanted to play music they loved in a relaxed environment. The ensemble provides a transformational experience for students who want to explore non-classical and traditional string band music in order to expand their creativity outside of the classical tradition. We are comprised of a diverse community of learners, students who have a lot of background or interest in traditional music, students who learn by ear or who would like to learn by ear, and who want to be able to perform music from the string band repertoire. The ensemble expands musical opportunities beyond what is already taught at the university.
